not your traditional fall family photos
When L reached out to me about family photos she wrote, "Hi, Jen!! My family and I just moved to Boise and we are looking to have some photos taken in fall. I LOVEEEE your style. I want to do some cool lifestyle photos with candid shots. I want the photos to capture our family's personality and play around with with different lighting or non-traditional aesthetics. Something artistic and fun."
Of course I messaged her back with (probably) too many exclamation points and (definitely) too many emojis. I told her I would be freaking thrilled to do this and stopped short of telling her she's my absolute dream client- but she is! Setting expectations for your photo session is one of the things that I believe is most important, and she knew from the get-go what she was looking for with some leeway for creative freedom for me. Her descriptions were fantastic and she sent me some inspiration photos for the shoot as well, which I am ALWAYS thrilled to get.
We decided on a sunny evening in a bright open field in late fall. Her daughter wore the best chunky jewelry ever, her son brought his trains. With some very minimal prompting and tons of play + movement we got lots of shots for her gallery and some favs for her Christmas cards. Her response after I delivered her whole gallery: "Oh my gosh I love them!!!!!!"
